Sarah Murray Hodson

After graduation I went to the University of Utah for two years and then transferred to Utah State. I graduate with a B.S. in 1997 and got married to Chris Hodson a week later. I went to graduate school at USU and got an M.S. in Community Health and then in 1999 we moved to Chicago. We lived in Chicago for six years while my husband got a PhD in American History at Nortwestern, and I worked for the Arthritis Foundation. We had two kids Isaac (now 7), and Libby (now 4). We loved Chicago and still miss it. In 2005, we moved just outside of Philadelphia for two years while my husband completed a post doctoral fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania. We really enjoyed all the things we were able to see and do while in the east. A little over a year ago we made a big change and moved back to Utah. My husband is now a professor at BYU. We had a third baby - Luke (1 year), and I am working as a part-time instructor at BYU. We are happy to have some stability in our lives after a lot of years of school and moving.

It has been fun to read what everyone is up to!

Shannon Atkinson Hineman

Hi everyone I was so sorry to miss the reunion but we were right in the middle of selling our house and moving. I guess I should introduce my family. I met my best friend Darrell while attending Dixie College in the summer of 1994, marrying in December of 1996. I was working as an accounts receivable staffer for a Home health service in St. George and continued to work there until I gave birth to our first son Travis (10). After completing an associate degree from Dixie College our family moved to Cedar City where my husband, Darrell, continued his education and later graduated. While in Cedar City, we welcomed another boy to our family Joshua (8). We then moved to Dayton Ohio when my husband accepted a position with the Department of Defense as an auditor. While in Ohio we had one more boy, Darren (5), and a girl, Melissa(2), to our family. We recently moved to Virginia where my husband is working for Ernst and Young. We love the adventures, we have found in the East, and enjoy going home to visit St. George when we can. I love staying at home with my children, who give me more ups than downs, and watching them grow and learn. There is always something to be done and I won't have it any other way.

Brenda Johnson

I have been accused of not being able to sit still. I say life is full of adventures just waiting to be discovered and sometimes invented so don’t miss an opportunity to enjoy (and your mom still loves you even though you are still giving her ulcers at 33)!
After graduating, I went right to work. I quickly finished up my Associates of Arts degree at Dixie College and graduated in ’94 with both my mom and my sister. Then it was onto grander scales that included packing up and moving to Salt Lake. After changing my major after my first year at the University of Utah, I graduated in March ’97 with a Bachelors degree in Communication with an emphasis in Public Speaking.
For the past 12 years I have been building my career as an Escrow Officer at Title One in Salt Lake. It has been an amazing learning experience to become familiar with the ins and outs of the housing market. Being in the industry, I just couldn’t help but get involved and so I purchased my own home and have been living there for the past ten years.
I have served in many capacities within the Church over the years. I am currently serving as the 1st Councilor of the Stake Relief Society Presidency and love being involved with the education of the sisters. Additionally, in my many travels, I have had the opportunity to visit and do work in several of the temples around the world.
Traveling is my passion! I have been to numerous places in this country and have visited several other countries as well. I must admit that two of my favorites have been my adventures in Australia where I was able to put my scuba diving skills to use at the Great Barrier Reef and Italy where I become engrossed in the history and art. I can typically be found on an airplane headed to a new location at least two or three times a year . . . no worries, I have only jumped out of one of the airplanes! I did learn quickly that I prefer the underwater to the falling through the air.
Other than that, I have never been married and so there are no little ones or husband to discuss.

Cynthia Plewe Rushton

Hey fellow Panthers!
The past 15 years of my life can be categorized in three chapters:

Chapter 1: Education. I attended Dixie College then SUU where, 1998 I earned a bachelors degree in Theater Arts/Dance with an English minor.

Chapter 2: Career and Marriage. My first teaching position was at Hurricane Middle School. In July of 1999, I married Jim Rushton. We moved to his hometown, Mesquite, Nevada where I began teaching theater and English at VVHS. Being a high school Drama Director was artistically challenging, demanding, and very rewarding. During that time I directed, choreographed, designed, and produced numerous plays and musicals--we even did Music Man (just like our senior year!) After six years of teaching, my husband was ready to be done building sets for his totally stressed out wife and I was ready for a new chapter--unfortunately we weren't in control of when the next chapter in our lives would begin...

Chapter 3: Motherhood. Ironically, it was during a play rehearsal that I received word that a baby girl had been born and we had been chosen to be her adoptive parents. My students had to perform without a director because we were off to meet our oldest daughter, Riley Grace. It came as a total shock when I got pregnant two months later! Savannah Hope came 11 months after Riley. There are two words for these partners in crime--destroying angels! Riley is now 4, Savannah is 3, and our third girl, Addison, is 6 months old. I'm blessed to get sloppy kisses, pure laughter, lots of drama, and expressed love everyday.

I owned a wedding and events decorating business for a couple of years but happily sold it when, after 9 years in Mesquite, we recently moved to Cedar City as my husband transferred with Wells Fargo. I am happy to report that I am a full-time mother and homemaker.

It's been so fun to catch up with y'all at the reunion and through this blog. Hopefully more contribute...

After high school I attended Dixie College where I tried my hand at football. I quickly realized I was pretty bad and decided to move on after about four weeks. After a couple of quarters at Dixie, I went on a mission to Sendai, Japan. After the mission, I returned to Dixie College for a year and then transferred to the University of Utah, graduating with a B.A. in Economics. I worked for Fidelity Investments in Salt Lake City for a year and then moved to Washington D.C. in 2000 to work as an economist for a certain government "Agency." During that time, I earned an MBA and a M.A. in International Trade and Investment Policy from The George Washington University. I then moved to the Department of State in 2005 and just finished my first three year post in Tokyo this summer. I currently live in the suburbs of Washington D.C. with my wife Megan (Johnson), who I met at the U, and my two children, Ian (5) and Adelin (Addy) (2 1/2).

Wendy Hale Stauffer

I have 2 kids, 5 and 3. My little girl just started kindergarten and my little boy likes to fly around our cal-de-sac with a cape and a batman mask on. I married Matt Stauffer that graduated from PV in '92. He went on his mission and then waited for me to get home from my mission. I went to Indiana on my mission then came home and, a month later, married Matt on July 31, 1999. We met in Mr. Wimmer's Debate class and went to Homecoming in 1991. We live in Lehi, UT now. We did live in Clearwater, Florida for 3 1/2 years a year after we were married. I had my little girl out there. That was exciting but also very hot and humid. We met some good friends out there, too.I'm a nursery teacher at church in a very young ward, now. I belong to a book club / play group, and have actually read quite a few books, amazingly. I have a great group of friends in the circle where we live. I love to do craft projects with my mom and sister. In the summer when I come home to St. George, I can't believe I grew up in the heat that's down there. Also I have a blog on-line so if anyone wants to come see my life, they just need to email me first so I can invite them. My email address is wendyhs@comcast.net . I would love to talk to everyone there. Maybe next time around.

Mike Barben

Hey class of “93”! I can’t believe we are getting so old. Fifteen years has flown by. I still feel like I am 18, but the grey hair and wrinkles are catching up with me. Ha ha! Where do I start? After graduating from PVHS, I served my mission in England. I returned home in June of 96 and met my wife of 11 years, Vanessa, at Dixie College. I graduated from Dixie with my Associate degree and went on to Southern Utah University and graduated with a Bachelors degree in Business/Marketing. I have three great kids Bo 8 years old (named after my great friend Bo Shaheen), Brielle age 5 and Bella age 1. We currently live in St. George, although we did move back east (Philadelphia) this past summer for a summer sales job. We absolutely loved Pennsylvania and had a great experience there. I have worked at St. George Truss Co. for the past 8-9 years and absolutely loved working with Russ Nielson. I’m now looking to go back to school and get my Master’s in secondary education, and follow in the footsteps of my parents and teach/coach at the high school level. I love being a dad, and I am still a sports fanatic. Go Cougs, Rams, Dodgers, and Lakers! My family and I love St. George, and hope to stay here forever if we can. I would love to keep in touch with all of you; here is our family blog barbenblast.blogspot.com or e-mail mikebarben13@yahoo.com

We specialize in "bone" surgeries e.g. Total Hips, Total Knees, Shoulder surgeries, hands, feet, Back and Neck surgeries also. I work two days a month to keep my license current and to spend the rest of the time with my kids. I love my job and plan to retire from there.

We own a small home in Bancroft, Idaho, where I often spent many summers, visiting family. We plan to fix it up and use it for vacation and family reunions.

I have been given many blessings in my life and I'm so thankful to be able to enjoy my health, family and friends.

Heather Simmonds Ellison

Well, the past 15 years has come and looking back, I am so thankful for where I am today and hopefully who I am becoming. I ended up getting married to Skeeter Ellison whom I met at Dixie College after highschool. We dated for 6 years before we finally got married. During that time Skeeter played in the minor leagues and I acting like a 19 year old in every sense of the word. Then when we were 23 and going to get married we ended up serving missions. I was called to Boston, MA and Skeet to NY, NY North mission. It was soon after that we got married, had 3 children in 3 years and I have been running ever since. Our married life has taken us to 5 different states with work and 15 moves all together. I feel like I should go into moving others professionally. I love my husband, my sons Kai-61/2 Driggs-5 and Gus 3-1/2, playing in the dirt and planing our latest adventures. Skeet and I ended up finishing our Bachelors at Utah State which prepared me for moving to Rexburg, Idaho soon after (weather). We are back in Utah as of a month ago and just settling in getting ready for wresting to start. Skeet loves to hunt so we spend a lot of time camping and I picked up running a couple of years ago so we both support each other in our own goals. I am a full time mom, no downsizing here, no pay, plenty of job security and lots of rewards. I am so thankful.

Making it to the reunion was so great this year. I really enjoyed seeing everyone and just knowing we are all moving ahead and really doing the best we can. Hopefully all keeps going in that direction for us all.

Melissa Peterson Bolli

How do I begin this bio of the last 15 years? I left St George in the Fall of 1993 to go to Snow College. This was a great experience for me and I enjoyed every minute of it. I met my husband, Aaron Bolli, while at Snow (he is from Ephraim), but we didn't marry until 1998. After Snow I went to SUU to get a degree in Elementary Ed. When I was done with everything but my student teaching we decided to get married. We have lived in Provo, Ephraim, Las Vegas and we finally were able to move to St George, where we love it, 5 years ago. Aaron started his own concrete business here and we are so happy to be in good old St George. We have 4 kids. Meg (9), Jonas (7), Christian (4) and Luke who is almost 2. They are very busy and we love keeping up with them. I stay at home with the kids and do the bookkeeping for the business. As a family we love to hunt, fish, camp and four wheel. We are an active family and love being outside.

Susanna Barton Murray

I was sad to miss the reunion. This blog is great; it is fun to see what you have been up to throughout the past fifteen years. Fifteen years…I can’t believe it!

I graduated from Dixie College in 1995 followed by BYU in 1997. I absolutely loved my time at BYU. I met my husband, Brad Murray, through my roommate and Dixie High School Alum- Kami Rhoades. Brad and I were married in December of 1996 in the St. George Temple. I worked at DRMC in the accounting department for two years until we moved to Orem for Brad’s schooling.

When we moved to Orem, I was fortunate to be able to stay at home with my daughter, Amanda. Brad and I have four beautiful children – Amanda (1998), Emily (2000), Ethan (2004), and Kaytie (2006). We have lived in West Valley for the past 6 years and have a blast together. We are passionate about BYU football and as a result, fall is the favorite time of year in the Murray household. We enjoy camping, playing games together, soaking up the magic of Disneyland once in a while, and going on walks as a family.

I've had some great experiences a long theway mainly focusing on the outdoors which would include hunting andfishing. However, I often spend my spare time enjoying flyfishing andmeeting people from the world in the Yellowstone National Park Region. Overall, I'm just living the high life and yet I'm currently attemptingGene Simmons' record, which is dating the most women without commitment.

Sorry that Amy and I were not able to make it to the reunion. We surprised our oldest daughter with Dallas Cowboys tickets, and went out of town. (Yes, I am still a huge cowboys fan!) After high school I served a mission to Ecuador, South America. After returning home my mom introduced me to my beautiful wife Amy Sonju of Arizona. (Who would have thought that Coach Sonju would be my brother-in-law.) Amy and I were married in the St. George Temple 11 years ago, and have 4 great kids. (2 sons and 2 daughters.) Hannah, Drew, Hudson, and we recently added the newest addition to our family, our baby boy Nash. I am still working in Real Estate, land development, and property managment at Holiday Resort Realty here in St. George. Life has been good to me! Hope you are all doing good, as well.

My life has been a colorful one since we all graduated from school! I was married and had my first two children by February of 1995 and divorced in 1996. After my divorce, I went to Evans Hairstyling College when I met my current husband of ten years. We met at a church singles dance and one week later we eloped to Las Vegas! Our children are Amber;16 years old, Brady; 14 years old, Mark; 14 years old, Amber; 13 years old, Parker; 10 years old, and Madison; 9 years old.

I started working for American Family Insurance as an Agent’s Assistant two and a half years ago and just recently started my own agency with American Family Insurance this June. Although I have not had any formal education nor financially rich, I am educated each day by my children and rich with the blessings I receive each day from my family.

After high school I attended Dixie College on a Volleyball Scholarship. I loved every minute of it and graduated from Dixie College with my Associates Degree. I continued to play Volleyball at Utah State University (GO AGGIES) and also attend school. I graduated with my Bachelors Degree in Family and Human Development and then went on to get my Social Work License in 1997. I met my sweet husband while attending Utah State University. My husband is Dustin Crawford from Paris, ID. I graduated and started working for the State of Utah while Dustin finished his schooling. Dustin graduated in 2001 and then we got married soon after. We were married in 2001 and Dustin continued his schooling and got his Master's Degree in American Literature. He is currently a Professor at Utah State University. We then decided to do the 'family thing' and we had our daughter, Maya, in 2005. We live in Logan, UT and we love it. I continue to work for the State of Utah and Dustin continues to work for Utah State University.

Kami Barney Cuff

Shortly after graduating from High School, I met my husband Kevin while we were both working at Lin’s Grocery store while going to Dixie College. We started dating in October and were engaged by Christmas Eve. We were married January 22nd 1994 in the St George temple.

My daughter Sydney was born June 14, 2000 and my son Parker was born February 28, 2005. We have lived in St. George exclusively except for a short 8-month stint in Salt Lake.

I have worked for St George Winlectric Co. for quite a few years and was promoted to Mesquite Winlectric Co. about 4 years ago. It has been a good opportunity even though I have to commute.

We love living in St. George and enjoy having extended family close by.

Ginny Towt Nobis

After high school graduation, I began working at Skywest Airlines full time, and enrolled at Dixie College. Two years later, I met my incredible, wonderful, good looking, thoughful, sweet, kind husband, Mike Nobis (DHS ‘90), in tennis class. He was late and I was running "on-time" – a habit I am still trying to break! We married the following summer. I graduated with my Associate of Arts degree from Dixie, and went on to pursue my Elementary Education degree from SUU.

While doing my student teaching, I had my first child, Kaitlyn, in 1998. I went on to graduate and began working the following fall part time at Red Mountain Elementary in Ivins. Two years later, my second child, Mckenna was born and I took a year off from teaching. I missed teaching so much that year, that when an opportunity to teach kindergarten came up, I jumped at the chance! I went back to SUU to get my Early Childhood Endorsement, and just kept going to receive my Master of Education in 2003. After my son, Nate, was born in 2002, I taught for two more years at Red Mountain. The pull to be home was too great, though. I wanted to be with my children while they were small and so I left teaching elementary school to start my own small preschool in my home in Shadow Mountain (near Valley View Drive in St. George).
Starting preschool was a lot of work! At the end of the year (2005), I was looking forward to the following year to improve on what I had started when I learned that I was expecting twins. My husband, my family and I were surprised, shocked, elated.....you can imagine the emotions we went through --or maybe a few of you have experienced this miracle! At my 16 week appointment, we learned that they were likely identical and that one (Briana) would not survive. Our hearts were breaking and our children were so sad. I was on modified bed rest for the rest of my pregnancy, as we waited each week to learn that Briana had passed away and Abby would be okay. Briana never did pass away in-utero. I went into pre-term labor and my sweet baby twins were delivered at 26 weeks. Briana was born still and Abby lived for a short time.
Our twins birth and death changed me and my family forever. We miss them each day, but we were also blessed with a miracle–my sweet baby girl, Ella. Ella was born one year later and has brought a huge measure of joy to me, my husband, and my sweet children. We are reminded each day that life is precious, and we are so grateful for eternal families.
Life has a way of coming full circle! After spending three straight years pregnant, on bed rest, nursing, etc...life is busier than I had ever dreamed of! Many times during those years, I would wish I could just have a little normalcy back in my life...I got my wish! I now get to "pay it forward" and serve the women in my ward as a Relief Society President and I have started preschool again.
I can’t wait to see what life has brought my friends from high school!

Doug McArthur

Bio 2008

If I had thought the 13 years of school leading up to graduation were crazy times, the last 15 years have only been more surprising and exciting. Unfortunately, I have missed the 5 year and the 10 year reunions and will be missing the 15 year as well. Also, this is the first update biography I have given to just about anyone from our graduating class. So, I apologize if my 15 year update is more than you wanted to read. Significant events over the past 15 years include: 1) Chemical Engineering degree from University of Utah in 1997; 2) Married to classmate and fellow alum, Judy Toquero in 1997; 3) Move to Austin, Texas to start Law school in 1997; 4) Move back to Utah in 2007; 5) LDS Mission to Brasil from 1998-2000; 6) Married Emily Clark in 2001; 7) Birth of first child in 2001; 8) Birth of second child in 2002; 9) Law degree from J. Reuben Clark Law School (aka BYU) in 2003; 10) Moved to Cincinnati, Ohio as in-house counsel for Procter & Gamble in 2003; 11) Moved to Portland, Oregon as Associate Attorney with Kolisch Hartwell (law firm) in 2003; 12) Birth of third child in 2004; 13) Birth of fourth child in 2006; 14) Moved to Salt Lake City, Utah as associate attorney with Snell & Wilmer (law firm) in 2006; 15) Birth of fifth child in 2007; 16) moved to Houston, Texas as in-house counsel with ExxonMobil Corporation in 2007; 17) Preparing for birth of sixth child in 2008. Yes, that's right, 15 years and 17 significant events. I am starting to wonder if I have some form of absurd attention deficit problem where I need some enormous event at least once a year to keep things interesting. I am hoping that 2009 will be peaceful with only run of the mill events - but after 15 years of excitement - it kind of becomes run of the mill.

In a more serious vein, there are a couple of items in the above list that deserve a little more explanation. First, as I suspect many of you know already, our friend and my beloved wife Judy passed away in 1997 from a very bizarre illness that manifested itself in an even more unusual manner. While it was an incredibly difficult time, I learned a great deal from the experience. To put it in summary, the significance of the eternities became abundantly clear to me in very short order, which led to a complete change in priorities in my life. Second, 2006 was a more complex year than suggested by the above summary. My fourth child, Joshua, was diagnosed with anencephaly during the pregnancy (too complex to summarize adequately here). The anencephaly was severe and he did not survive the delivery process. During this time, I was grateful for my testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ and the strength that comes therefrom. My wife, Emily, has also leaned heavily upon and grown her testimony through this experience.

So that the tragedies in my life do not become the only memory of me from this Biography Collection, I will note that I have also had the greatest joys in life and am exceptionally happy with where an apparently tumultuous life has led me. My four kids at home are great. We have been immeasurably blessed with talented children, safety, employment, and health (in all aspects but the two above). I still play soccer about once a week and it still provides the highlights of my life. I try to run a few times a week and am waiting for the right friend to challenge me to a half marathon or longer so that I actually lock in a training routine.

I am currently practicing in-house with ExxonMobil Upstream Research Company in Houston, Texas. We have been here for just over one year and really enjoying it. I continue to focus my practice on patent law and am particularly enjoying learning more about the oil and gas industry. My family is trying to get used to the weather in Houston - Hurricane Ike did not help that effort. Fortunately in the 36 hours before making landfall, Ike changed direction slightly to not pass directly over our house. Nonetheless, living through a hurricane is a new experience that really tests your faithfulness to the teachings of emergency preparedness. Being involved in the recovery efforts has also helped me to see charity of our church members in a manner I never would have suspected.

Andrea Torgerson Walker

Hi all - it is difficult to recap the last 15 years in one short page. In 1994 I moved from St. George to Idaho where I met my husband, Ken. We were married in 1995 in the St. George LDS Temple.
We have been unable to have biological children, and have been blessed to adopt Lyndee (age 7), Eric (age 3), and Jackson (age 2). Eric and Jackson are full brothers that we adopted through the State of Oregon. We brought Lyndee home the day after she was born and we went the LDS Family Services to adopt her.
We currently live in Oregon where we have been so blessed to have a beautiful little home and Ken works for the LDS Church as the Mechanical Custodian overseeing 20 LDS church buildings. I am blessed to be able to stay at home with our children and love being a Wife and Mother. I am very blessed and truly love my life.
I wish we were able to attend the reunion - it would be such a kick to see everyone. Maybe next time! I would love to hear from anyone, and if you ever get to Central Oregon, stop in for a visit.
Warmly,

Andi T. Walker

Tyler Hains

Hi,This is Tyler Hains. Remember me? Anyway, here's what I've done with the last 15 years (wow, I must be old!)...After graduating from PineView, I went to school at MIT in Cambridge, MA. I took a break to serve a mission in Sapporo, Japan, and came back to finish MIT, graduating in 2000 with my bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Engineering. I got married that same year to a Massachusetts native, Rebecca Consentino. For a while, I worked for Lavastorm, the company that built the original Family Search web site. After that I worked for Solectria, a company that built electric vehicles. Rebecca then decided she wanted to teach college, and needed a PhD, so we moved to Philadelphia so she could attend Temple University. Conveniently, I got to hang out with my sister, Erin, as she is living outside Philadelphia. While we were in Philadelphia, I got a job with a startup company as their IT person. When Rebecca finished her program and we moved back to Massachusetts, my company decided to keep me on and allow me to telecommute. I continue to work for that company from home as their IT Director. The company, ProfitPoint, was recently named one of the 100 fastest growing privately held companies in the US by Inc. Magazine. In our spare time, Rebecca and I sing and act with a number of community theater groups. We tend to do a lot of Gilbert & Sullivan. We also sang for several years with the Tanglewood Festival Chorus. We will probably sing in their Holiday Pops concerts again next year - this year we are taking a break...Rebecca will also be taking a slight break from teaching at Salem State College, and will be doing mostly administrative duties this semester, as she will be taking her maternity leave. By the time this is printed, we should have our first child to add some more adventure to our lives. Here is our contact info:Rebecca & Tyler Hains9 Beckett St.Peabody, MA 01960978-532-2408tyler@hains.net
